Down In The Garden

by Bella Rum

“Garden” is too grand a word to describe the few flowers in our yard. When we lived in Maryland, I had beautiful perennial beds that boasted all sorts of flowers. I used to go out in the early morning to find the bumble bees sound asleep and still clinging to the underside of black-eyed susans, or resting on the blossoms of bee balm. The beds were always busy with bees and butterflies and humming birds. Now we have a few phlox plants that grow along the side porch and several varieties of irises, etc. It’s simpler and less maintenance, but I do miss all that activity buzzing around and the luxury of cutting flowers to bring inside. I took these photos before we went to Dad’s for the weekend, but I never had time to post them.
