Isn’t she a beauty? Beth is a therapy dog. She and other therapy dogs visited our floor last night. She’s almost ten-years-old. She and her person have been visiting patients for about nine years. Therapy dogs must be certified, and their owners go through a process, but it’s obvious that they get a lot of satisfaction from their work.
I was so surprised when Beth looked directly into my eyes. Dogs can perceive direct eye contact as a challenge, but she actually initiated it. She was so gentle, and I know it may sound over the top, but she actually seemed empathetic. I don’t know if dogs can feel things like that, but I believe they sense things, and I know they offer comfort.
